Make sure you have a copy of the Find The Line worksheet to record your results:
Sheet 1
You may have seen this before. You have to make the line go through both the purple dots.
There are only two things you can change -- the gradient and the y-intercept. You do this by changing the numbers in the orange and yellow cells.
change the numbers in the orange and yellow cells
Note that:
- The numbers can be positive or negative
- They don't have to be whole numbers
- You may have to settle for an approximate answer
When you are confident with this go on to Sheet 2
Sheet 2
In this activity you have to change two lines.
Where the lines intersect is shown by a red cross:
X marks the spot
Here you have to make the lines intersect on the blue spot. You can change the numbers in the purple and green cells to move the lines.

Record your results on the worksheet. There are many possible answers for each question.
Remember:
- The numbers can be positive or negative
- They don't have to be whole numbers
- You may have to settle for an approximate answer
